I personally have refused to shop at certain stores because of poor customer service.  Walmart is one example.  I had poor customer service there more than 10 years ago, and I changed my shopping habits.  I refused to shop there for many years, and still rarely frequent their stores.

Another situation occured at my dentist.  I changed dentist after they were going to charge me $8 for a procedure that my insurance was supposed to cover fully and had paid the negotiated rate.  They said that left $8.  I paid, but the dentist office lost in the long run.

For consulting, great customer service means:

• Listening to your client(s)
• Helping them understand your offering
• Setting and then exceeding their expectations

If you follow these simple rules, you’ll be on your way to be a great consultant.
